The American Rabbit Breeders Association lists over 50 different rabbit breeds. The ARBA describes its list of rabbit breeds as “the most complete list of recognized rabbit breeds in the world.”
Some of the most popular bunnies include the Netherland Dwarf, Holland Lop, Mini Lop and French Angora.
Floppy-eared bunnies are adorable, but they’re not for everyone. Some people prefer their pet rabbits to have pointed or prick ears. Others find that floppy ears make it harder to tell which way a rabbit is looking at you. And some people like the look of both types of ears on their pet bunny!
Bunny Breeds With Floppy Ears
A rabbit’s ears are a feature that can make or break an adorable pet. If your rabbit has floppy ears, you’ll end up with a very cute bunny. However, if your rabbit has upright ears, you may want to consider another breed.
Rabbits with floppy ears are quite common and easy to find in the pet store. Usually, when people think of rabbits, they picture those little white bunnies with floppy ears and big eyes that look like they are smiling all the time.
There are many different breeds of rabbits and each one comes with its own unique characteristics. Some rabbits have short hair while others have long hair; some have floppy ears while others have pointy ones; some have big eyes and others have small ones; etc., etc., etc..
Rabbits come in all colors including white, brown, black, gray, red and even pink! You can also find them in many sizes from tiny dwarf bunnies to large giants! The possibilities really are endless!
There are a number of different kinds of rabbits that have floppy ears. Some of these are the following:
American Fuzzy Lop. Also known as American lop, this is a breed that has droopy ears and a long body. The fur can be any color, but it is most commonly seen in white or gray.
American Sable. This breed has floppy ears and a short face. The fur color can be anything from solid black to brown or even red with spots on the body.
Angora Rabbit. This type of bunny has large floppy ears, making them look like they are wearing earmuffs! The fur is long and thick, much like sheep wool, and comes in many different colors including white, black, brown, red and yellow.
Californian Rex Rabbit. This type of rabbit has very soft curly fur that grows in a corkscrew-like pattern all over its body (just like human hair). The ears are small and come in various colors including black, blue or chocolate brown along with white or grey markings on their bodies
A bunny’s ears are the first thing you notice about your pet rabbit. They’re also one of the easiest ways to tell different rabbit breeds apart.
Most rabbits’ ears are floppy, but there are some exceptions — some rabbits have droopy ears, while others have erect or semi-erect ears. Their ears should also be smooth, not crinkly or hairy.

Floppy Ears
A floppy ear is a type of ear that hangs down from the head rather than standing upright. It is the most common type of rabbit ear and is found in all breeds except those with erect ears (see below). The reason for this has been debated over time, but it’s likely that floppy-eared rabbits evolved from wild rabbits whose floppy ears made them less visible to predators as they hid in their burrows. This makes sense considering that many other animals with floppy ears — such as dogs and cats — also have this trait for similar reasons.
American Fuzzy Lop
The American Fuzzy Lop is a breed of rabbit created by Ann Baker in California. They have a short, soft body, floppy ears, and a wide variety of colors.
Angora
The Angora is one of the oldest breeds of domestic rabbit. They are known for their long hair that they shed seasonally. They also come in many colors, including white, black, brown, grey and red.
Californian
The Californian has been bred as a meat rabbit since the mid-1800s in the San Francisco Bay Area. They are medium sized rabbits with dark fur and white markings on their faces and feet.
Champagne D’Argent Dwarf Hotot
These rabbits were developed in France for exhibition purposes and can be found in all colors except for chocolate or lilac. They have long floppy ears that cover most of their face and may even cover their eyes when they are relaxed (which makes them look like they’re sleeping).
