How Much Fancy Feast To Feed A Cat
Introduction
Fancy Feast is my cat’s favorite food, but that doesn’t mean it should be their only food. As a veterinarian, I’d like to talk about the pros and cons of Fancy Feast as well as how much of it you should feed your cat each day. After all, I once had a client whose cat only ate Fancy Feast meals—and they were both miserable!
Kittens may need canned food sooner.
Kittens need extra calories, protein, calcium and vitamins to help them grow into healthy cats. They also have different nutritional needs than adults—and their calorie requirements increase as they age.
The best way to determine if you’re feeding your kitten the correct amount of Fancy Feast is by watching its weight and listening to its body language. If you notice that your kitten is getting too fat (don’t worry!) or thin (that can be dangerous), it’s time for a change in diet or exercise routine.
What is Fancy Feast?
Fancy Feast is a brand of wet cat food, and they have many different flavors, sizes and types of packaging. They also have many different types of containers to put the food in. In all cases, the Fancy Feast packaging is very fancy indeed.
When you go to the Fancy Feast website you will see all of these things:
- A fancy word that describes their product line-up (“Classic Cuts” or “Gourmet Entrée”)
- A fancy picture with no text at all! Only cats! Cats make everything better!
- Links to social media accounts so that you can share pictures of your cat eating Fancy Feast with others
How much Fancy Feast to feed a cat?
When it comes to the question of how much Fancy Feast for a cat, the answer depends on several factors including the age, weight and activity level of your feline friend. Kittens may need canned food sooner than adult cats. If you are feeding a cat that is not eating enough, you should increase the amount of food you are giving rather than decreasing it as this could result in more serious health issues.
Is Fancy Feast a complete diet for cats?
Fancy Feast is not a complete diet for cats. Cats need variety and they need a lot of water, so Fancy Feast should be combined with dry food, wet food and treats.
Cats should eat between 75-100 calories per pound of body weight per day. If you were feeding your cat super fancy gourmet Fancy Feast, this could easily be over 500 calories per day! The average housecat will not need that many calories. A cat in good health requires about 50-75% water in their diet (this includes canned or dry food).
A better way to find out if your cat is getting enough to eat is to look at the amount of feces produced by him/her over 24 hours: it should be small amounts that are firm and well formed, with no sign of diarrhea or constipation present. If you’re still concerned after doing these tests then speak with your vet or seek advice from them directly via email or phone call so we can help determine whether there may be an underlying issue affecting how much food he/she needs at each mealtime too.”
Fancy Feast is good for your cat, but you should also mix it with dry food.
Fancy Feast is a great source of protein, vitamins and minerals, taurine, omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and other nutrients. However, when you feed only Fancy Feast cat food to your cat he may not get all of the nutrients that he needs. This can cause health problems down the road.
To make sure your kitty gets all of the nutrients she requires to be healthy and happy you should add some dry kibble to her diet. When we say “dry” kibble we mean something that contains more than 50% carbohydrates (usually grains) as opposed to protein or fat.
Why does adding dry food help with nutrition? Well…
Conclusion
If you’re looking for the best food to feed your cat, Fancy Feast is a great option. It has all of the nutrients they need, and it’s relatively cheap compared to other wet foods on the market. We recommend mixing this food with dry kibble so that your cat gets variety in their diet, which will help prevent boredom or pickiness later on.
