What Are Bladder Stones?

Bladder stones are small mineral deposits that form within the urinary tract of dogs and other animals as well. They range from small pebbles to large rocks that can obstruct urine flow and cause extreme pain.

The most common types of bladder stone are struvite, calcium oxalate and urate (also called uroliths). Struvite stones tend to form when there is an imbalance between minerals such as potassium, magnesium or sodium; calcium oxalate crystals develop when excess levels of certain amino acids or vitamin D3 exist in your

My dog has bladder stones. He is a 10 year old boxer. I am not sure about the exact cause, but he was fed Purina Dog Chow (grain free) for years and then switched to Natural Balance Ultra Premium Canine Formula after my vet recommended it. After switching, he started having problems with his kidneys and had to be on anti-inflammatory meds for about a year. A recent urine test showed that he still has at least one small stone in his bladder (not sure how big), but no more kidney problems. His diet has been changed back to Natural Balance Ultra Premium Canine Formula, but he is now having diarrhea again (lots of soft stools).

I have read a lot about natural dog food, but I am not sure which one would be best for him. Any suggestions?

My vet recommends Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Urinary SO® Dry Canine Formula, but it is very expensive and my dog goes through it really fast because he eats so much due to all the diarrhea.

Natural dog food for bladder stones

Bladder stones are common in dogs and can be a very painful condition. They are usually caused by a combination of factors: high protein, low water intake, high calcium content in the diet, obesity, and urinary tract infection. Some breeds such as Boxers have a greater tendency to develop bladder stones because they lack certain enzymes that aid in digestion.

The best way to prevent bladder stones is to ensure your dog receives adequate water intake. Avoid giving your dog fatty treats or table scraps that may cause weight gain. Natural dog food diets with no grains will help reduce the amount of calcium in their diet.

If your dog has developed bladder stones it is important they receive proper treatment from a vet who understands how to manage this condition effectively.

Dog bladder stones are not a very common health issue, but it does happen. If your dog has stones in his or her bladder, then you will want to find natural dog food for bladder stones. This is because the best way to help your pet avoid getting them again is by feeding them foods that will keep their urine acidic.

The proper pH level for dog urine is around 5.0-6.0 on the scale of 14-7 (1 being super acidic and 7 being super basic). The ideal pH level for humans is between 6.4 and 6.8 on the same scale (1-14). Anything else can cause problems in the body, especially if it gets too high or too low. When it comes to dogs, they need something that is more acidic than humans do because they have a naturally higher alkaline level than we do due to their carnivorous diet.

Natural dog food for bladder stones includes lots of fruits and vegetables like apples, bananas, blueberries, carrots and peas
