Belted Galloway

The Belted Galloway is a dual-purpose breed known for its hardiness and ability to thrive in harsh conditions. It is one of the oldest British beef breeds and was once critically endangered. However, thanks to efforts by conservationists, the Belted Galloway has enjoyed a remarkable comeback and is now one of the most popular cattle breeds in Great Britain.

Belted Galloway cattle are known for their distinctive white belt around the middle of their bodies. They also have white earlobes and white patches on their faces or legs. The coloration pattern may vary from animal to animal but all Belted Galloways should have this characteristic white belt that runs along the spine from behind each shoulder blade down onto the tailhead where it meets up with another belt running along the backside of each rear leg all the way back up again behind each shoulder blade where it begins again at its origin point on either side of

Heritage Cattle Breeds For Sale:

Red Angus: Red Angus cattle originated in Scotland during the early 1800’s when they were bred from native Scottish black polled cattle crossed with the English Shorthorn breed imported from England. The purpose for this cross was to improve meat quality in beef production by adding some docility to the hardy black polled cattle through crossing them with a more docile breed like the Shorthorn. Some people have called this cross “Long Horned Shorthorns” because they had long horns like their ancestors from Scotland who were shorn in spring

Here at Heritage Cattle of Texas, we love cattle and we love to breed for quality. Our ranch has been in the family for over 100 years and we are proud to share our heritage with others.

We specialize in breeding and selling heirloom beef cattle. Our goal is to provide beef that is the healthiest, tastiest, and most sustainable possible. The breeds we select are those that can thrive on grass alone with minimal inputs, have good maternal instincts, are hardy, and have excellent carcass qualities.

Our cattle come from all over the world—from Europe to Asia to North America. We have chosen these breeds because they represent some of the best qualities of their kind: a high level of adaptability, an ability to thrive on pasture alone or in combination with other feed sources, high fertility rates, hardiness in extreme weather conditions, excellent mothering instincts (especially important for cows that are not fed grain), great taste and tenderness in meat products (especially important for grass-fed cattle), and excellent carcass qualities (muscling).
